This makes it an excellent case-study for evaluating labour market practices and possibilities for reform. Studies in Labour Markets and Industriai Relations brings together leading Italian and European scholars to trace the evolution of labour bargaining and industriai relations. Issues such as wage moderation, cyclical features of the labour market, inflationary pressures, bargaining strutture and migration are examined from both a theoretical and empirical perspective.

Abstract/Sommario: The Economics of Enlargement has two aims. Firstly, to introduce and discuss a number of sensitive economic steps along the road to the enlargement of the European Union, such as real and nominai convergence before accession to the EU and Euroland, or agricultural and structural policies in an enlarged Union. The Eastern enlargement will necessarily lead to another round of deep political and institutional reform and adjustment within the EU. The second aim of the collection is to offer a representative sample of what can be defined by the 'economics of transition and enlargement'. More than a decade ago, the change from planning towards a market economy in most of Central and Eastern Europe and Asia prompted a wave of economic research on the features of this transformation and the problems facing the countries involved in it. This collection is a valuable addition to this research which has been revitalised by the current EU enlargement.
