Abstract/Sommario: The following lectures were delivered at the Tenth International Banking Summer School in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, in September 1957, before an audience of bankers from forty-two countries. They are now reproduced in book form, so that a wider audience may have the opportunity of studying the views of international authorities on problems which, directly or indirectly, affect banking everywhere in the world.
When the Institute of Bankers in London inaugurated the International ...; [Leggi tutto...] The following lectures were delivered at the Tenth International Banking Summer School in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, in September 1957, before an audience of bankers from forty-two countries. They are now reproduced in book form, so that a wider audience may have the opportunity of studying the views of international authorities on problems which, directly or indirectly, affect banking everywhere in the world.
When the Institute of Bankers in London inaugurated the International Banking Summer School ten years ago, they had in view to provide, in a freer atmosphere than is possible at official meetings, a forum for international discussion on practical problems of Finance and Banking. In the past ten years the School has been in many countries; it has already become an establishment and has created its own traditions. The exchange of knowledge and experience between the representatives of many nations has helped to provide a better mutual understanding. If the Garmisch School has added to this better understanding and if these lectures have improved the mutual knowledge of the problems of other countries, they will have well served their purpose.
May this book help to increase the success of the School by wide distribution.
